VALENCIA – Turkey Blocks is to present at the Internet Freedom Festival 2017 in Valencia, Spain, a week-long gathering that will together digital rights defenders from over a hundred countries. The event covers eight different focus areas, including internet censorship, diversity in technology and freedom of expression online, each a topic of growing significance in Turkey where digital aspirations and a thriving startup economy are set against a challenging political environment where online speech is not always free.
Turkey Blocks will present its research on network monitoring technology at 10:00AM on Wednesday, 8 March 2017: Post-Truth Censorship: The Surprising Science of Shutdown Detection. The IFF format is designed to invite feedback and engage the wider community. Turkey Blocks is an independent, non-partisan digital rights observatory that tracks shutdowns and supports free expression and digital development in Turkey. Follow @TurkeyBlocks.
